Many people suppress their appetite because that is what they think will help to lose weight.( pills, tea, gum , patches etc) So they are not in touch with their appetite and don't have a regular schedule of eating.(late breakfast /no breakfast or late lunch etc.)
You have deregulated your appetite, because you think appetite is your enemy and you think food is the enemy. You believe food and appetite is going to make you gain weight and make you unlovable.

Skipping meals is contributing to your weight gain and the inability to lose weight via the survival response.You are sending a signal to your central nervous system and your brain senses starvation survival mode by slowing down calorie burning, metabolism and muscle building capacity.
JTFFL Tip: Introduce regularity ( regular meals) so the body gets the signal that its not in survival mode. When you start to eat regularly that means your appetite will increase. which is OK because that means your metabolism and your calorie burning capacity is increasing.
